Sold a song to Disney at 12, masterminded a family band in my teens, wrote theater/cabaret in NYC in my youth, quit songwriting for a spell, now I’m back!
I love writing songs that capture strong feelings I’ve had about a time, person or place, and that wrap you in those feelings with a sumptuous arrangement and much to surprise the ear. I’m drawn to seductive rhythms and sophisticated chords, and themes of longing, carnality and joy. I want my listeners to be astonished!

Story behind the song
I liked writing theater songs because the dramatic situation supplied the subject matter for the lyric. But I also yearned to write a self-contained pop song, and encouraging listeners to persist in the face of discouragement seemed a good place to start. If the refrain reminds you of the outro of the Carpenters song Goodbye To Love, me too! And I wrote mine first! We had this song on a demo knocking around LA publishing offices at least a year before Goodbye To Love, but Im sure the chord progression is just a coincidence.
